Reports have circulated indicating that Palace may part ways with Hodgson, given their current standing in the Premier League, where they are 15th and five points clear of the relegation zone. Palace's next match is against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday.

In an official statement shared on social media, the club stated, "Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today's training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital. Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery."

BBC Sport understands that Hodgson's departure from the club seems imminent, with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner emerging as a strong favorite to succeed him.

Hodgson recently marked his 200th match as Palace manager, a game in which his team suffered a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at Selhurst Park. The club has struggled this season, winning only three league games since their victory over Manchester United in September and losing 10 of their past 16 top-flight matches.

This marks Hodgson's second stint in charge of Palace, having returned for the final 10 games of last season. He initially signed a short-term deal to take over from Patrick Vieira and led the club to an 11th-place finish before agreeing to continue managing the side for the 2023-24 campaign.

Recent displays of frustration from supporters, including banners calling for Hodgson's dismissal, reflect growing discontent with the club's management. Criticism intensified following questionable substitutions, such as the early withdrawal of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise's brief appearance despite injury concerns.

Glasner, 49, boasts an impressive resume, having led Frankfurt to Europa League success in 2022 and guiding them to the Champions League knockout stages last year. Despite his achievements, he left the club following a winless streak in the Bundesliga.
